Tomas Johan Kristian has been submerged in classical music since the day he was born. When he started playing Czerny & Bach on piano at the age of six, he immediately started inventing his own minimal piano tunes. These days, Tomas releases neoclassic & experimental ambient albums as Suntapes and composes music for documentaries and different kinds of performances. He was also the keyboard player of Belgian rock legend Arno Hintjens who passed away in 2022.

Now, the time has come for Tomas Johan Kristian to release his personal piano compositions. Wavering between melodramatic subtle beauty and energetic minimalism, the solo piano pieces of Tomas Johan Kristian have a soothing feel and warm sound. His quirky approach to classical compositions sprung from his character to avoid the expected and to submerge in his own organic connection with repetitiveness. Some important influences for his style are Ryuichi Sakamoto, Akira Kosemura, Yann Tiersen and Lubomyr Melnyk.

Tomas Johan Kristian records on different pianos depending on the feel of each track. For most Suntapes compositions, he records on a 1881 Bechstein grand piano. The contemporary piano solo sonates of Tomas Johan Kristian are recorded on a warm sounding Yamaha C3 grand piano with close miking techniques on tape. Some of these tracks have been conceived more than 10 or even 15 years ago and are now finally recorded properly and being released.
